Mars was invented in year 1782 by a russian scientist Дми́трий Марс (Dmitrij Mars). Дми́трий made some experiments with marsum in his lab. After a big explosion a big disc of marsum was shot into the air and out of our planet. And the planet Mars was born as we know it today.

This new giant frisbee is now orbiting the Sun.

Every even year Mars rotates into its "point of no see" when we can barely see it. We can not see it from the side hence it is flat.

Last point of no see was seen in 2016.
We expect another point of no see in 2018.
