Very shortly we will be releasing our beta version of the Free TeamFortress 2 Items group. While we cannot release too much information on how it will work, we can say the system will work a lot better.

As we are about to launch into our public beta stage, we must ask a few trustworthy Steam users, and avid video game lovers, to participate in a test run of our new application.

This is just a test run, a request for you to provide us with feedback. As you will be volunteering, there is no reward, but you get to give valuable information to an ever-growing group.

If you wish to join, please add me on Steam and leave a comment explaining that you wish to be a volunteer. I will get back to you shortly with details.

If you do not wish to join, that is alright as well. However, it will delay the creation of the group and the actual launch date.

Volunteers will get to see our application in the next few weeks.

Let me clear things up before you read this - I am Cheez, check my name history. Just tried being a little creative and it got me nowhere.

As I mentioned back in December, I have been working on making this group better. Right now, it's terrible.

Obviously I have figured out a few new ways of obtaining the funds to buy each item/request but nothing is ever free therefore, before launching the group again, there are a few new rules.

They're simple. Don't be greedy and order within our limits. That means request something that you would like but not something stupid. If you do order something stupid you'll just have a really lonely topic floating around on this group forever.

I don't have all the funds right now to buy your stuff as I am still setting things up. However, I would love to see this group become active as quickly as possible. So, I am now offering pre-launch requests. Just go make a discussion and request an item again. Please please please don't put unusuals. It's just a waste of time.

Let me be very clear, I am not just going to walk away from this group. And if I do you should probably block me because I am an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Alright let the requests begin! The launch should be in a little while but trust me, not that long from now. Plus, it does not cost you a dime to make a request!

2016 is going to be filled with a lot of exciting events, including many on this group. Looking forward to see what this year holds for us.

So this is a little awkward but you may or may not have noticed that this group became inactive for a few months - many months actually.

Anyway I think it was clear that this group was hopeless in every way from the beginning - really such an unsustainable system would have never worked even if I had spent every last penny I had on it. It would just grow and then collapse.

So I killed it by leaving and never responding. That's why it's a little awkward now but there are still 66 members on the group who have not left.

For a few months I had moved on and really could not have cared less about the group and really left Steam. For some reason, however, the desire to give free video game items was reignited inside of me and now I want to do it again.

But (and here's the catch) I actually want to make a system that works like it should. Therefore I will not be "offering" unusuals, keys, bill's hats and more for now. Hey, if we develop something that makes it capable of delivering those items then sure why not - but definitely not now.


Some things that have been suggested to me to support the system are:

A) Offerwall - make everyone complete a survey or sponsored thing before they can receive their item. It's a nice idea but it would probably just be easier for the user to buy the item than to complete one of those "offers".

B) Pay Wall / monthly membership - Make everyone pay a fixed price for membership. Kind of like Costco. You pay for the great deals. Again, nice idea but it really kills the whole "free items" thing.

So there is the dilemma. Balancing the growth and expansion of the group plus the financial side.

Let me tell you, if you've stayed on this group for this long AND have just taken your time to read through this long announcement you are a true warrior. But I need your help. I want to provide something to people so that they can get free items.

You can donate if you'd like to help give items but, again, it kills the whole idea of "free items".

I will still give free UNIQUE items on demand (that means things like weapons, items, etc. worth 0.5 scrap) and occasionally hats but anything else should wait until the group has improved. I will occasionally go on various discussions and give free items to random people on this group. That is time to time and random.

Also, I can't trade for 1 week because I just activated that Steam mobile authentication thing and so all my trades will go into escrow for 3 days. Although I can trade I don't feel like it because this escrow thing has blown my mind.
