You know what I noticed in video games lately?

Most games let you do what ever you want with bearly any punishment.

For example in fallout 3 and fallout new vegas there was a karma system.

This system would effect how other people think of you and your luck.

So you lose karma people think your a bad person unless your part of some faction.

Later in fallout 4 they removed the karma system completely.

This means you can steal and kill anything with no punishment besides if you get noticed that faction,people,or person will try to kill you or get
the item back.

What I do in fallout 4 is go to diamond city pick up an item not take it and run somewhere hidden and steal it.

This makes the game so much easier and the best part is that the items respawn.

You cant get items in containers.

So in fallout 4 the game doesnt really punish the player for not doing the moral thing.

Alot of games give the choice of being a good guy or a bad guy.

Most of the time I try to be good in a game like this I still exploit the game to still be a good person.

Now for my 2nd example watch dogs.

This game has a reputation system like the karma system in fallout 3.

If you go killing people your reputatoin goes down.

If you do moral things your reputation goes up.

Simple but hard to follow because I AM SO BAD AT DRIVING IN THIS GAME.

*cut away to foatge of me crashing a car in watch dogs*

Which lead many people to not care about the reputation system.

In the sequel watch dogs 2

Like fallout 4 they droped the reputation system.

They also droped the main chacter for the same reason for droping the reputation system.

To let the player be free.

Now this alone proves that games dont care about morals any more.

So think of this...

A kid walks up to gamestop seeing 2 games.

One game allows you to do what ever you want and has no moral system what so ever.

Then there is the game that punishes you for not being moral.

Most people today would probally get the game with no moral system because it gives them a choice to be free.

This is why games were droping these moral systems its because people wanted more of a choice not to be force to be a hero.
