Battle of Oaxaca

After a region long protest across the colony the people of Oaxaca had enough of the Spanish rule. Earlier this day, protesters left for a short while only to return armed with muskets and farming equipment and to which charged the local police and soldiers blocking the protesters. The soldiers opened fire killing some but were over taken by the civillians. After this, one of the many Viceroy's palaces in all major cities was burned down causing a raging fire to which spread to the local barracks in which a huge explosion went off as gunpowder caught fire. The rebels have now taken the city of Oaxaca although with many loses. The remaining soldiers fled the city to take up defensive positions across the region to block the spread of the rebellion. A message was sent from the rebels across New Spain reading;"Let it be known that the Mexican people have had enough of the oppressive Spanish rule. All peoples under Mexico will be free, free to speak, free to own property, and most of all free to liberty!"

This explosion rang out across New Spain, a new struggle has begun.
