HOW TO PROTECT YOUR ACCOUNT FROM API SCAMS – EVERYONE MUST READ

Important information about the Steam Web API scam.
Please take a moment to read this carefully to avoid losing valuable items.

Today, many scammers use a method known as the Steam Web API Key scam to steal skins from traders.

Members of trading communities lose items this way every day. This post explains how the scam works and how you can protect yourself.

🔍 HOW THIS SCAM WORKS

Scammers use phishing websites that look like legitimate trading or pricing services.

• These sites often appear in search engine ads
• They copy the design of popular services
• Fake traders may ask you to visit such sites to “check prices” or “verify items”

When you click a fake “Login with Steam” button, you are shown a fake Steam login page.
Once you enter your login, password, and 2FA code, scammers gain access to your account.

They then generate a Steam Web API key on this page:
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/dev/apikey

Using this key, they can monitor and cancel your real trade offers and replace them with identical-looking offers from their own accounts.

🛡️ HOW TO PROTECT YOUR SKINS

Always follow these rules:

1 Never enter your Steam login details on third-party websites.
If you are asked to log in, go directly to:
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com
and log in there first.

2 Never log in to a website because someone tells you to, even if they claim to be a “trusted trader”.

3 Avoid search engine ads.
Use direct website links instead of sponsored results.

4 Double-check all trade offers.
Before confirming on your phone:
• Verify items you give and receive
• Check the profile level and details of the trading partner

❗ WHAT TO DO IF YOU WERE SCAMMED

Unfortunately, stolen items cannot be returned.

You should:
• Report the scammer’s Steam account
• The account may be banned, but trades will not be reversed

Step 1: Deauthorize all devices
(Account Details → Manage Steam Guard → Deauthorize all devices)

Step 2: Revoke your Steam Web API key
