Twisters start to hit the midwest and one hits our main characters town.The fathers of our main characters who are storm spotters watch as the tornado hits their homes, killing animals and launching cars and beams like toys. Fast forword to present day and are main characters who have always had a passion for meteorology get their dream job at the hoxton severe weather research lab and get to experience the disaster that terrorized them 20 years ago unfold on another town. They Chasers are then forced to rescue bloodied up victims of the mile wide EF5 tornado. America realizes this is the worst tornado season since 2011 in the history of the united states of america. It is storms like this and the experiences that test the groups friendship like never before.

An unlikely passion for weather is sparked by a tornado that hits the home of (main character) in 1974 as a child and leads to their career in meteorology at the Hoxworth Severe Weather Research Lab as a storm chaser. 2011 was the first year that (main character) along with a team of researchers could study outside of the Norman, Oklahoma office. 2011 is also the year of the famous 2011 Super Outbreak which brought 360 confirmed tornadoes during the event. The teams are scattered by an EF-3 tornado, which leaves them to survive on their own during dangerous times. The team ends up in Mulvane, Kansas, where they found the abandoned office of H-SWRL that had been open from 1963-1987. They take shelter and discover ROMAN, an unused weather probe designed to deploy weather instruments into a tornado.

Tornados start terrorizing the midwest in 1982. Main character who is 15 at the time has to stay home with his mom. His mom asks for him to go and pick up medicene within that time a tornado warning goes into effect. His mom needed the medicene so he still went to the store. Then the tornado hits the store. He finds a place safe and stays there. When the storm is finally over he finds his car not totaled. He high tails it home. Then he sees hs house all destroyed and his mom deadwith a piece of metal sticking out of her 50 yards away. This caused him to start chasing storms. Suposedly if his sources are correct, 2018 is going to be the worst year on record in kansas. His co workers and himself try and chase the thing that ends up starting out as something that wasnt even going to produce a tornado, but wound up being an ef5 with several events happenening. For one this tornado will last for not 1 or 2 hours, but 7 days. His friend was chasing the thing and deployed a probe, and stilk chased it. He got to close and got sucked up and died. He was trying to get a good shot of it. 1 member of his team of 3 died.
