Found the problem. I had 2 object that were the same name, a mesh object (named fuse) and the main bone I parented the other bones off of was named the same (fuse).

That sounds like it could cause problems. I'll look into it.

The comments on the image suggest that you don't have a common parent for the different objects. Not sure what's going on with the "default" slider in SFM though. Perhaps that zeroes mesh transforms?

It's also used to locate studiomdl when compiling QCs.

Do you have custom loop normals? Check the mesh properties of "Asylum1".

If not then I don't know. Upload your blend[www.pasteall.org] and I'll take a look when I can, but I'm going to be offline at home for a while.

Interesting to hear that FBX doesn't have the same limitation.

I didn't test the mesh but I would be surprised if there were a second issue lurking behind the weight link limit.

bip_pelvis and bip_spine_1 both affect every vertex on the body, so they would be a good place to start.

As the error report says:

Warning: 5689 verts on "Body.001" have over 4 weight links. Source does not support this!
Warning: 1 verts on "Head.001" have over 4 weight links. Source does not support this!

You'll need to reduce the number of weight links. Youcan use the "Weight Link Cull Threshold" value to do this automatically, or fix it up manually for better results.
