Released zm_random_v13
  • Added Sans Undertale boss fight trap.
  • Added uncomfortable "ZM has an affair with your wife" trap.
  • Added Shrink Ray trap.
  • Added Ichthyosaur Surprise trap.
  • Added player-to-prop transformation trap.
  • Added "Beaned!" trap (this meme was still relevant when I made this).
  • Added Shrek trap.
  • Added various random events, objects, and secrets. I doubt all of them will even be found.
  • Added new sound effects and music to some existing traps.
  • Added a bunch of new special endings.
  • Added new special babies and features for them, to make them more unique.
  • Added 3D Skybox (it's mostly the same background, and I might do silly things with it in the future).
  • Added breakable glass panels on the entrance and exit of the crawlspace area. You either have to punch them once to break them, or have a prop come into contact with them. Why? Well, why not? It sort of makes it a bit more of a challenge to bunnyhop through here, unless you have a baby.

  • Redesigned the Hulk fight arena. It's a bit larger, so you have more room to dodge. It also features a respawning Shambler to make it more exciting, so you can't just get in a rythmn of punching and dodging while the Hulk remains still. This new arena also hopefully fixes non-fighting players distracting the Hulk.

  • Updated the Zombie Survival challenge. The trap portal now stays open as long as someone is in the trap, so other players can join in if they wish (otherwise they will have to wait before ending the round). They'll be given a pistol and a crowbar if they join. Now features a special ending if the victims survive the challenge, instead of simply freeing them. The music for this trap also now has a chance to be something that's probably copyrighted. What a shame.

  • Updated some trap descriptions and costs.
  • Updated the ending trap area to have a different texture, allowing players to see the boundaries of the trap. The traps there also now have unique floor colors when activated, similar to the Hulk fight glass area.
  • The "O" in the "LOL" trap was made thiccer. It looks a bit better now, and isn't as easy to bunnyhop through.
  • Sparta trap was remade, and the direction was reversed (to kick players off the ledge, don't ask why it wasn't made that way to begin with). No longer has glass walls.
  • Exploding item box trap now takes slightly longer to explode, with more grenade ticking sounds.
  • The ending barrels no longer end the round while special endings are in progress (the guy jumping on them still dies for being rude).
  • Celine Dion sequence will now only play if all Survivors are nearby to witness it.
  • Swapped "Idiot Box" and "HDTF" trap locations. You can go to the Idiot Box for jumping in the trap portal before the pools.
  • Some areas were given minor visual makeovers/redesigns so they aren't quite as ugly as before (hopefully, this is somewhat wip).
  • Removed the fire on the teleporter to the final area. This used to be for anti-stuck purposes, but shouldn't be needed these days.
  • Reversed the direction the special baby is facing when spawning. It now faces towards the spawn rather than away from it. Not a big deal, but lets you see what it is without awkwardly flipping dababy.
  • Fixed a couple of music overlap cases.
  • Fixed being able to crouch under Tempest's left eye to avoid being crushed.
  • Fixed "You are now being vored" message staying on screen long after death.
  • Fixed Grigoris not holding their Annabelles correctly, and added more voice lines for them.

  • Plus even more stuff that I either forgot to list or would rather not mention. I've worked on this on/off, so naturally not everything is going to be listed.

Well, I'm going to end up updating zm_random again first, it turns out. It's been the most consistently popular map of mine, and it's pretty easy to come up with new ideas for it. I've been working on and off on v13 for the last year and a half or so.

Of course, there are going to be new and elaborate ways to die, but there's also going to be new secrets for the human players to find, such as unique endings or other various easter eggs. Plus, the map will look slightly better in certain areas. I should be releasing that within the next month or two. Thanks for the enthusiasm for these maps, it's certainly nice to see them live on even a decade later.

Oh man! I was worried ZM was gone for good. I missed having happy memories on zm_random and similar fun maps.

I've been getting back into mapping lately, since ZM:R gets played with decent regularity. Now that the update to zm_random is out, I may go on to update all of the older maps, and/or create new ones. I'll make more announcements as that happens. :thumbsup:
