The rules are made to reflect the spirit of fight with honor. All actions taken while playing should be to move storylines forward, preserve immersion, and maintain a respectful community. To report rule violations or discuss warnings and bans, submit a ticket here. Rule clarifications and suggestions will only be responded to and/or considered if submitted on proper forum, here. GM rulings are final.

GMs are not allowed to be involved in the rulings that are in any way related to player character. GMs will not spawn items, replace skill points, or modify alignment for anything other than quests and events.
Players are not allowed to use racism words on server, those found doing so will be subject to warn/ban.



GAMEPLAY RULES

The most important rules:
Roleplaying or fight is one of the highest priority within the server. Player’s names, communication, and motivations should all revolve around roleplaying.

1 - No player may offend, by race, creed or religion.
2 - It is forbidden to build on the great mountain .
3 - Forbidden kill player with slow death or do repawkiller .
4 - All complaints must be accompanied Printing Made and placed in the forum Complaints for Analysis sector.
5 - Prohibited use wooden trunks to jump walls .
6 - can only attack the same guild every 24 hours
7 - Forbidden attack the capital or make fighting within its territory .


Global Chat

Out of character communication on SanctuaryBrothers is restricted to global chat.
Global chat is for friendly banter and discussion of game mechanics; suggestions and GM requests should be handled through the website. Discriminatory language or verbal abuse will result in immediate ban. The only two instances of allowable in-character chat in global are announcing your arrival at another’s settlement indicated with an (RP) tag and server-wide event announcements.


Local Chat

Local chat is for in-character conversation. Any information gained from local chat is considered in-character knowledge. Sharing this knowledge outside of in-character interaction will be considered metagaming. Out of character communication in local chat should be for emergencies only with an (OOC) tag.


Questing

Character storylines that require a GM storyteller (such as uncovering a lost artifact or religious quest) are considered quests. Quest proposals need to be submitted through the RP ticket here. When a quest is proposed, the player must indicate a roleplay reason, objective, proposed reward, and any allies. GMs will respond by assigning unscheduled tasks and scheduled scenes to complete the quest. Bear in mind that rewards will be scaled to the difficulty of the objective, and proposed objectives will not necessarily be accepted



Warnable & Bannable Offenses:

Breaking character to insult, criticize religion, or discourage others from reporting a rules violation
Building on the main mountain
Leaving stumps when cutting down trees - causes server lag
Tree walls, or trees planted too close for players to pass through



COMBAT RULES

Combat (Off Claim-Daytime)

All combat off claim during the day must be preceded by roleplay dialogue in local chat. Any combat initiated during the day without roleplay dialogue will be considered kill on sight (KoS). Aggressors must make reasonable demands, such as “give me your weapons”or “yield”, and wait a response. Aggression based on prior conflict must be roleplayed before the attack is initiated unless war has been declared through an official channel. Once an aggressor provides their demands, the following options are available to the individual(s) being attacked:

Engage - Attacking, drawing a weapon, refusing reasonable demands, or verbal insults will be considered engaging in combat.
Flee - Use in game mechanics to flee from the opponent. Fleeing combatants can be pursued and attacked.
Comply - If a player complies to the demands they are immune from combat. Refusal of reasonable demands would be considered engaging in combat.

Unresponsive - If a player is unresponsive to reasonable demands, or is afk off claim, and does not respond within 30 seconds you may provide one more line of warning before attacking.



Combat (Off Claim-Nighttime)

Kill on sight is allowed off claim at night (example of night). Night is dangerous and travelers should be prepared to defend themselves against bandits. Combat at night time will have role play ramifications with involved combatants, and bounties can be placed on notorious bandits. Fatally Wounded characters (killed within the last 24 hours) should not be off claim at night time due to their inability to be involved in combat while wounded. Guidelines for nighttime KoS are as follows:

Fleeing onto claims: If a combatant chooses to flee from combat and runs onto a claim they cannot be pursued without establishing mutual roleplay in local chat (unless it’s the pursuer’s claim). Camping outside of a claim (lingering with aggressive intent for more than 5 minutes) is not allowed.
Morning: When morning lag begins, nighttime is considered over. At this time, if damage has already been dealt, you may resume combat. If damage has not been dealt, you must establish mutual roleplay in local chat prior to resuming


Combat (On Claim)

Within claim borders aggressors must engage in mutual role play dialogue in local chat with the victim(s). You can only attempt to attack a player on claim if they are not enclosed within completed palisade, stone, or castle walls. Breaching walls is only allowed during approved wars (see below). Aggressors must make clear their intent and provide reasonable demands. If defending your own claim, the whistle action constitutes role play dialogue to trespassers. The victims have the following options:

Engage - Attacking, drawing a weapon, refusing reasonable demands, or verbal insults will be considered engaging in combat.
Flee - Use in game mechanics to flee from the opponent. Fleeing combatants can be pursued and attacked. Hiding in buildings is legal when fleeing from combat on claims.
Comply - If a player complies to the demands they are immune from combat. Refusal of reasonable demands would be considered engaging in combat.

Unresponsive - If a player is unresponsive or afk on claim, they can be killed in the next 45 seconds.


Raiding

Raiding consists of getting over the walls of an opposing guild. Raiding is only permitted after war has been declared and approved. For this purpose, walls must be completed palisades, stone walls, or castle walls. Each alliance may only raid once every 24 hours.

If the settlement has walls, the only legal way to infiltrate a settlement's walls is one of the following options:

Using pre-existing terraforming, furniture, or buildings to jump over the walls.
Bringing logs or build your own furniture, and building siege structure to jump over the walls. Stacked furniture or logs must be placed on top of one another in a physically sound and realistic manner. Screenshot is required of all siege structures; disputes to your siege structure without a screenshot proving legality will be a violation of rules.


Anything not listed above is considered an illegal infiltration. Examples of illegal infiltration would be jumping on another player or horse, jumping over a wall while on horseback, or using the pounce ability to get over walls.


Death/Knockout

In game death or knockout from hostile combat with another player character is considered a fatal wound. Characters are not considered dead unless involved characters agree on permanent death. Fatally wounded characters cannot engage combat for 24 real life hours. If engaged in combat, even if defending your own claim, you must sit down and indicate in local chat (OOC) - fatally wounded as of date/time. Fatally wounded characters are not allowed to relate how they were wounded or who their attackers were for 1 real life hour as they are considered in a state of delirium due to their grevious wounds.


Warnable & Bannable Offenses:

Kill on Sight (KoS): Engaging attacks without appropriate roleplay dialogue in local chat between dawn (morning lag) and night (visible darkness)
Infiltrating the walls of a base you are not at war with
Killing compliant/AFK players on claim
Combat Logging: Logging out of the game while engaged in combat
Participating in combat while fatally wounded
Illegal infiltration of a settlement or multiple infiltrations by an alliance or guild within 24 hours
