BRING DOWN ACTA!

ACTA: Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. It's supposed to help protect products and trademarks counterfeiting, like making fake products of general goods.

Sounds great doesn't it? But theres a twist:

ACTA's name is missleading:
Counterfeiting according to the Oxford English dictionary means; A fraudulent imitation of something else. And where the heck did the "Trade Agreement" part of the name come from? The thing is, When a file is uploaded to the internet and downloaded by someone else, It's not an imitation since the original still exists. So counterfeiting has nothing to do with it.

Musicians and actors think that this will benefit them, but what they don't understand is that this will all hit back on them. These rules will apply to them too! Not just that, There will be no commercials or videos on youtube where you can listen to their music before buying it. Or watch movie trailers. How will it be to go to the cinema, Without even knowing how the film is about? Would you ever buy a song you've never heard before? or see a movie you don't even know is good or not?

This is how ACTA will work on the internet:
#Example: You send a song to you're friend on.. Let's say skype or dropbox, This will be monitored by both of you're ISP's and if this happens multiple times you and you're friend will be disconnected from the internet or face criminal charges(fees).

The consequences we'll have to deal with are:
#1 Internet censorship, Every word that is copyrighted will be removed once the techniques to do this is in place.
#2 Restricted freedom of speech (Leading back to step #1)
#3 Loss of net neutrality due to the users restricted certain protocols.
#4 Total monitoring of you're online activities.
#5 Loss of freedom and restrictions of civil rights.
#6 Punishment, like losing you're internet access or getting charged.

Facts about ACTA:

1. ACTA isn't the "European" SOPA. It's nearly GLOBAL, will apply to every country that signs the treaty.
2. ACTA is far more aggressive. ACTA will not simply affect websites and have them blocked out of the internet - its measures will go as as surveillance of anything you share through private channels.
3. ACTA doesn't have a campaign againest it that is as wide-spread and organized as the SOPA one. This is DANGEROUS, as there's less time between now and the final signing of ACTA.
4. ACTA has effects on healthcare, trade and even tourism.
5. ACTA has to be stopped

Since countries in the EU have signed the treaty, each individual country will need to create legislation, this will give people more time to protest about the upcoming laws
