Aliens Vs Predator Koth Classic 1999 Started in 6/7/2013

Tournament Sign-Up Register!
On behalf of Newt 2.0, Grzegorz, and myself, I would like to invite everyone to the following upcoming event: a league tournament to commemorate 15 years of Aliens versus Predator (1999)! This league will have Steam prizes for the first, second, and third place winners. The first place prize will be a pre-order of Alien: Isolation. The second and third place prizes will also be Steam gifts to be determined (we’re taking suggestions!).

This tournament is open to everybody, and I encourage you all to sign up! Sign-ups will officially end on August 11. After that, we’re not accepting any more players. For specific details on the tournament, check our group page (open to anyone, but you should only join if you sign up). We’re also currently working on getting our own website up to record each player’s rank in the tournament, and it’ll be up by the time sign-ups are over on August 11.


Details:

The league will operate by a ranking system. All participants start off at a base rank, and rank is determined by a certain number of points. The system used to calculate points is called EXPO (Exponential Curve), meaning the winner doesn’t get as many points winning multiple times against the same player, and the loser doesn’t lose as many points against the same player.

The league will consist of participant-led matches. Players are to contact one another for 1-on-1 matches and understand beforehand that the match will count towards the tournament rank. The final score of each match must be recorded in a screenshot, preferably by both players, and sent to an official discussion page on our Steam group. If there’s no visual evidence of the score, it will not be counted.

The game settings for the matches should be the game’s default settings. However, the predator disc, predator pistol, and marine skeeter launcher and grenade launcher MUST be disabled. We are currently allowing all standard maps as well as the official Fox custom maps. Any other maps must get approval from a moderator.

Newt 2.0, Grzegorz, and myself will be moderating this tournament. We can’t possibly oversee every match, so our role will remain mostly outside of the arena. Our role will be to organize the tournament, host matches when necessary, make sure the players know the rules and that none are broken, and resolve disuptes. The moderators also can and will be participating in the matches.

Sign-ups end on August 11! After that, the league will officially begin, lasting through October 6. We’ll update you when it gets a bit closer to August 11.
