In 1066, The King of England Harold Godwinson was defeated in battle by King William the Conquerer, Duke of Normandy. Afterwards, the family and relatives of the old King had nowhere to go, alongside the nobility. After speaking to their old saxon counterparts and days of looking through text, the newly proclaimed king, Magnus Godwinson, led his court and men to the land only referenced, Vinland.

Nobody knows exactly where Vinland was, but for a time it had been occupied by Vikings who, after facing natives in combat, were drawn off of the Island. Seeing no better choice, Magnus landed and established a new kingdom in the Castle now known as Magnus' Pass, and quickly moved to establish a new Empire.

Seeing the North as richer, many lords settled there, as well as some settling in the west. Wealthy Merchants would find themselves setting up an Italian Style republic, while the poorest merchants resorted to Piracy. Following the death of Magnus Godwinson in 1097, the northern portion of the Saxon Kingdom would split away, claiming themselves the Britain Kingdom leaving the child. Harold III, to rule the south.

In the west, a group of "free men" settled on a pass of land between the Piracy Federation and the Tribes, relying on democratic views to make their decisions, and is no place for lords.

We now find ourselves here, in 1253.
