Horrors Ужасы
Horror is one of my favourite genres. I like watching horror movies and reading scary books. In my opinion, horror is thrilling and exciting. Some people don’t understand the pleasure of watching such movies, but most of my friends do. One of them even said that horror is the most typical art of the 20th century. Many techniques in this genre were pioneered by Alfred Hitchcock. His best-known film was certainly “Psycho” filmed in 1960. Other good movies with horror elements were “The Sixth Sense”, “Jurassic Park”, “Jaws”, “I am a Legend”, ‘Ghostbusters”. These pictures attempt to extract the emotions of fear and terror from viewers. Their plots often include a wide range of dangerous situations. For example, mysterious deaths, vampirism, the supernatural, zombies’ appearance, great wars, etc. Through horror stories you can get to know the good and bad sides of people, their values and their behavior in extreme situations. Apart from unreal elements, some horror movies include social, cultural, political and economic problems. It is interesting to compare old horror films with the new ones, social values and topics covered before and now. For example, the Hitchcock’s film “The Birds” shows that a woman in danger needed protection. She couldn’t fend for herself without a strong and masculine man. While in new movies women are rather strong and able to protect themselves. In conclusion, I’d like to add that horror films are worth watching, because they reveal the image of current society.
