Situation
We have been tasked to The Philippines. After WW2 the Philippines was recognized as an independent nation. Since then, the Philippines has often had a tumultuous experience with democracy, which included the overthrow of a dictatorship by a non-violent revolution.
It is also a founding member of the United Nations and keeps very close ties with them
The country is an active participant in the Human Rights Council as well as in peacekeeping missions, particularly in East Timor.

The Philippines has always had internal problems concerning the government and terrorist organizations, but with the backing of the United States they have managed to keep the country peaceful, until recently with the ISIL & ISIS Movements in Europe and Africa, Phillipines own version Abu Sayyaf has risen to power, Abu Sayyaf is one of the smallest and most violent jihadist groups in the southern Philippines. Its name means "bearer of the sword" and it is notorious for kidnapping for ransom, and for attacks on civilians and the army. Its founder, Abdurajak Abubakar Janjalani, was an Islamic preacher who fought in the Soviet-Afghan war, where he is said to have met Osama Bin Laden and been inspired by him. Al-Qaeda provided the group with funding and training when it was initially set up.

Abu Sayyaf's hijacking of ships is alarming Indonesia and Malaysia, who want to work together to prevent the disruption of regional trade routes hostages tend to be released if the ransom demanded for them is paid. This has been the outcome for most of their hostages. The group is known to kill captives if its demands are not met.
Its recent kidnap of 18 Indonesians and Malaysians has also prompted fears of the maritime region becoming a "new Somalia", as Indonesia's chief security minister put it, which could disrupt regional trade.

Tasking
The philippines have been looking to their friends in the UN to work towards a solution to all the ship Hijacking as it’s affecting the trade routes for multiple nations, making the closer waterways around the island dangerous, heavy firefights between Elements of Philippines Military and Abu Sayyaf have become more and more regular, IED Threats have been slowly popping up all over civilian villages, Transport trucks have been stolen and the drivers killed for as little as a few livestock. A clash in early April between the army and the group resulted in 18 soldiers dead and 56 wounded, the army's worst casualties in years.

Both the United States & United Kingdom have pledged support to the Philippines.
The United Kingdom are deploying 43 Commando to the region, The UK’s Premier Counter Piracy Force. Our Tasking is to patrol trades routes and waterways keeping them open and safe for merchant & cargo ships, allowing trade to flow freely. Unlike the Philippines army, 43 has had multiple dealings with IEDS and the way ISIS Fighters think so we are also tasked with assisting the Phili Army on patrols up into the jungle and searching out Abu Sayyaf hideouts. We are here as a Veteran force and will only deploy on the most critical missions.
Enemy forces
Abu Sayyaf - A Terrorist Organization, armed with old NATO & Russian Equipment. Experts at jungle fighting and ambushing. But poorly trained in marksmanship. Mainly dressed in old DPM and Balaclavas & Shemaghs

Friendly forces
Philippines army - Well trained & Equipped by the US but have little to no actual combat experience
US Navy & Marines - Typical American marines….


Other forces
At this time is very unclear what other non government forces maybe working in the philippines
But we expect to see small PMC elements working around HVT’s and Corporation properties

Notes:
43 Will actively be deployed on RHIBS and other waterborne craft, learning to shoot and deploy for these would be a great help. Abu Sayyaf are masters at ambushing and jungle fighting, extreme caution is advised when leaving the beaten track.
