Now we've had some levity, I confess we're about serious business.

The First Virginia Battaltion is the first battalion of regulars raised by the state of Virginia for her defense. This battaltion has the distinction of being an Irish unit, made of immigrants from the Old Sod. Someday, we'll go back and see her free.

Here's our drinks, let's raise a toast.

Now we plan to be a serious band, we will form regularly and each man will be responsible for learning his drill. We'll help with all that.

We won't be drilling the things we won't be using. Some of the intricate manouvers or fancy firing procedures we can skip. In the heat of battle, nobody is going to "fire by file from the right in two second intervals," what are they, daft?

No, we'll learn how to change formation quickly, how to deploy and recall skirmishers, and how to aim, which is trickier than fooling a leprechaun.

We'll support and help one another too, both in the field and on the technical side. Whatever is needed.

We have plenty of openings for NCOs and officers, should you be inclined to participate regular-like.

That's a fine lad. Say yes and I'll walk you through the process so you can be all joined up. And when this is over, we'll go back to Old Ireland and make her free again, like our grandfathers dreamt in '98!
