Neither. It's the combination that counts. Love without desire is nothing. Desire without love is nothing. And calculation is nothing at all.

the secret lies in the balance of both

Love without desire is nothing

Hmm, how then do you devalue the caring love of a mother for her child or the bond between a brother and sister? Love manifests in countless forms - familial, platonic, romantic, and beyond. At its core, love carries a deeper weight than mere physical chemistry

Eros (romantic, passionate love)
Storge (familial affection, like parent-child)
Philia (deep friendship, sibling bonds)
Agape (selfless, unconditional love)
Love.
Trust me, lust is nothing in comparison to actual love.
Lust

But Lust is one the Seven Deadly Sins...
Love builds over time with shared experiences, prioritizing trust and respect, while lust is driven by hormones and physical attraction, wanting to be together for sex, not just to be together.

So I choose love

Plenty of arranged marriages do just fine.
Both are the same thing...
Love is like joy, lust is like a snake eating it's own tail.
Love. It's what endures when lust has run its course.

And the end result of lust can be achieved solo; if both parties are down to just get down, that's cool, but meaningful, lasting companionship is a lot harder to find that a buddy for the evening--and I don't have to talk to my hand afterward.

Thankfully, I've got both. Whole reason I got married.
Of course love, whoever chooses lust probably is not ready for a serious relationship.
