If they went in and accomplished installing a friendly government within weeks that may be considered a win.

As to the war, Russia is evidently not winning as its year 4 of their invasion and they've lost control of several key areas/satellite countries. eg. Syria/Black Sea.
Also, any recent gains seem to be limited as they cant fully control even "conquered" cities like Pekrovsk.
if, as I suspect, the USA sides with Russia then Ukraine will fall.
Everything hangs in the balance.
Russia is a European threat, more than an American one, if one major European nation would directly join the war in Ukraine, it would probably be enough to to stop Russian advances, but I doubt they would be willing to take the losses to push for a counter offensive.
