Expedition 33 and Silksong are not innovative games, so why are they regarded that highly?
Seriously in the past innovation counted for something, but nowdays people seems to regard doing previous thing, but better higher than attempting very bold things and maybe fail or maybe succeded.

Because they are going back to the root of what games are supposed to be : a work of art and passion enjoyable to play.

Not all games need to be innovative or use ultra-turbo-next-gen-RTX grapheekz, as long as the game is well crafted and >>FUN<<, then it's good.
Team Cherry couldn't lose even if they made a failure because of the Indie game and Hollow Knight fan bandwagons.
