The world was better off without it. I was there and life was GOOD- here in Lost Wages, some parts were so GOOD that they can't be put into writing.
It was a lot better when people were still human and not a bunch of:

Yup. Public access internet became a widespread thing when I was in eighth grade.
I remember how world-changing it felt, but it would be *years* before smartphones came to the fore. And honestly? The before times had a lot more direct, meaningful connections between people--and a lot less of the naked aggression we too frequently practice here.
Meh, that wasn't really the fault of the internet. Phone zombies didn't exist before the iphone in the early days of the internet, nor was it really much better. People still complained about the boob tube viewers being zombified.
Here's a choice little excerpt from a 1958 senate Television inquiry[books.google.com]:
The only difference the internet made, in conjunction with the phones, is that the zombies could come out from their crypts and into the direct public eye, earbuds electronically feeding sound-waves directly to their eardrums.
The only thing that changed about the zombies is that they don't have to detach themselves from The Matrix to change locations anymore.
I was born at the perfect time in humanity to have seen the world both with and without the tech era.
The old version was MUCH more FUN FUN FUN!!!
Ok then, explain it.
