No Game is Worthy
I am trying to find a main game for me to play. I am looking for suggestions. I like alot of games, but they are not worthy to dump years into as a main game. I feel like I am buying every game and not finishing it looking for the best game. I guess that is common though. Alot of them just have holes in the design, or if they are complex they get so drab. Do you have a main game that is deep?

I will give some examples to better understand stuff I like. Maybe there is a game out there for me, maybe not.

Minecraft. This game should be everything to me. But when you break it down, what is the point of castles, weapons, and traps when lives are unlimited. People can just rush and destroy freely. With limited lives, everything would fall together and make sense. But without it, its just blocks. Plus they need cheat free servers for the public. Same thing everyone says.

Watchdogs Legion. I love the idea of recruiting members that can die. A death penalty makes it a real game instead a button pushing challenge. Reloading is so 90s. I like the open world and rogue element too, and hacking. But the anti gun ideology in a shooter might have thrown the balance off too much for me. I dont like the idea of using agents at sacrifices because they just have stun guns. Same thing everyone says too.

MechWarrior5 has the same death penalty kinda. You have to buy mechs that are not cheap and keep up with mercenary contracts. Cool game. Gets old after the 10th battle. I am realizing I only have a million more identical battles to go. Same thing everyone says again.

I like the idea of games like Galactic Civilizations and Stellaris in theory. I mean its kinda perfect for me in strategic complexity. But sitting there in space alone by yourself looking at dots can get boring pretty fast. Fun games to rotate back to. Same ole thing.

I love the depth of Bannerlord, but I can conquer the map in a few days with little resistance. Crusader Kings is broke.

City Skylines is cool and will play it, maybe even Anno. But I cant make them my main game, ya know.

I have Xcom which has the death penalty that I like. But it ends pretty fast too.

I love alot of games that dont have the strategy Im looking for just because they are cool games and kinda fun like Skyrim, GTA, RDR.

I have Civ, Port Royale, Warhammer, and Tropico but those are just week long type of games too.

Or any game ideas that is deep but not just incredibly boring at the same time? Worthy of being a main game for years?

Is your main purpose to analyze everything from top to bottom and to zero in on any faults (nit-picking) when you pick up a game or to play for enjoyment? Because if that's not the definition of being hard to please a.k.a. demanding and picky. I don't know what is.

Mate, no one can tell you whether you should continue to play or quit gaming all together, but you. Perhaps you should ask yourself why you used to play video games (if there was ever a time you truly enjoyed it) and try get back to that. If there was ever a time where you derived more enjoyment than I don't know... dejection or contempt for the game?

Other than that your choices seem to be 1) taking a break or 2) quit

Ah I still enjoy all the games I have and basic games too. Maybe I should have said quit looking for the perfect main game. I guess it sounded pretty cynical. But at the same time I think you and everyone agree with me 100% deep down if they feel what Im sayin.
You sounded very cynical and like you're on the verge of actually quitting gaming.

Mate, there will probably never be a game that will ever be perfect, without any bugs, glitches or faults of any kind (in gameplay, mechanics, systems, etc.) What people look for in games varies between people and tastes are subjective, so no matter how good a game is, someone will always hate it or hate things about it.

There will probably be a lot of people that agree with you but I'm not one of them, there are plenty of games worthy for me and also plenty of games that aren't. Even though I might find them not worthy of my time, they could be for someone else.

However, it still sounds like you are very hard to please and nit-picky. And if you continue to have such high expectations of developers to create games that are worthy of you, you will probably have a hard time finding games that are.

Yea maybe I was in some kind of mood. And I am looking for a main game so yea am going to be nit picky some. I just was saying all that to try to find other minds that are like mine so they could recommend some games that I might like too. But I know it did sound cynical. lol Maybe it was.
Play red dead 2 it's a perfect game
This sounds insufferable.

It is a cool game but not what I am searching for.

You are right. I will change it.
There's only one you. Gamers that are as demanding as you won't share your exact preferences.

Chances are they might recommend games you've already bought and written off or already completed. You mentioned you've bought more games than anyone you know, so understand if the total count is a three or four digit figure, then giving you recommendations is a tall order.

How many are we talking btw? How many still untouched? Written off? Which ones were the elusive unicorn type you're searching for and why did you consider them worthy?

The answer to these would help any potential like minded individual to come up with recommendations, more than just the list of games you think are unworthy and the reasons why.

In the meantime or if this proves a futile endeavor, go to the Steam store page of your favorite video games and scroll down to "more like this" or search the store by your favorite category and tags.

Or google "Players who loved [Video game title] will likely enjoy", check top 10/50/100/(or whatever) games lists by category or whatever tag you enjoy the most.

Edit: Checking the Steam charts might help as well. https://psteamproxy.yuanyoumao.com/charts

Its just asking about deep games that are not boring. Dont make such a big deal out of it and freak out and blow the thread up over it ok. 100% anyone with autism or into science etc nerd stuff likes deep games.
You could always give dwarf fortress a go.

Ive heard that a few times. It looks like a bunch of ants running around. Like a big ant hill haha. I heard its deep tho. I might get that.
Not trying to be a prick, trying to help you.

Anyway, best of luck to your search. I'll get out of your hair now, my apologies for intruding.

There's also Caves of Qud. Lots of mechanics and hundreds of not thousands of variables and ways to figure out problems.

Eve Online is player run and supposedly complex and a time sinker.

Na its ok bro. I was pretty cynical sounding the way I first worded it. I feel ya. Maybe I do have some kind of itch where if the balance isnt right I can get bothered. I dont know, thats me.
