Why did the US project fail?
The US had insane growth in the early 60s with a 91% top tax rate.

Post-WWII America was playing on easy mode economically.

Zero competition (Europe/Japan still rebuilding) and monopoly on manufacturing.

The high taxes funded NASA, highways, public universities, defense R&D. A lot of what made the 60s prosperous came from government investment those taxes paid for.

52% corporate rate sounds brutal but they could deduct reinvestment, productivity was exploding, and wages actually rose with productivity (wild concept now).

Inequality was way lower because those top rates constrained ultra-high incomes, unions were strong, and the middle class actually got a cut of the growth.

What went wrong with the United States? Where did they go wrong and how did they lose their monopolies?

foreign interests and bad long-term strategy played a massive role in the down-fall of the 60s US.

foreign interest = certain 2 countries who used USA as a bodyguard for their own agenda (UK and Israel)

bad long-term strategy = create no social net because that's a socialist doctrine + create an environment where you need to work and get more money on top of your money (basically greed)

---

Also, you're looking at those stats from the 60s and you gotta remember that's the period when the US started to import talents and brains from all over the world into the US. That's fine for a 1st generation, like you need a foreign scientist, you get him and his family into the country. That 1st generation is stoked and loves the life in US, maybe the 2nd generation is also ok, but when you get to the 3rd generation, there's no guarantee those people will be "good people" nor that they'll like that life.

---

The worst mistake done by the US was to legalize corruption under the form of "lobby" that's what ruined the USA.

Because if you have blue hair, neck tattoos, and septum piercings, you will believe anything that's told to you.

The next stage in capitalism (for international companies, which basically what most are after a certain stage) is to find out where to can get goods made cheaper, and to sell back to the those who had wealth. Countries with poor people who didn't require things like health coverage, a safe work environment, and don't mind pollution will always be able to work cheaper than countries that want such protections. The cycle will continue as those nations will get to expensive and production moves elsewhere.

If you count factories as making kids go into mines and mine resources, then yes.

Otherwise, those resources will be shipped to Chinese factories.

The local labor force in Africa isn't exactly "factory-minded", if you will.

The Rich bought over our elections.

Another disingenuous bait thread. We've gone from claims that the stock market is failing, and now the US, which sits atop the world as the largest economy, largest military, largest consumer market, most scientifically advanced country, and the undisputed sole world power, has failed.

I'm starting to think it's a poor attempt at comedy.

Which is why CN isn't losing any time there and is headed for the market of the day after tomorrow.

I hear ya buddy, but if you were alive in the 80's, you'd know how much America has fallen.

We are being undermined by masses of people who don't know the 3 branches of government, but will throw a rock through a window over a dead felon.

The left has replaced Jesus with George.

Jesus would refuse Right-Wing America for sure.

Don't badmouth HIS name.
