I don't really get the hubbub, but it doesn't bother me. I feel like old people and young people would have their issues with each other even if they just called each other that.

it's ok for some generalized things. genx is actually very different from boomers for example (generally speaking of course).

but I avoid making assumptions about someone based on whatever generational label people tend to apply to that age group.

as long as the generation of cookies and coffee occurs i'm happy.

people of different age groups are different, people in similar age groups have more similarities

obviously it's not that simple, but there is reason to it, the concept would exist whether or not you give it a name

Considering there are people born every day of every month of every year, there never is or could ever be any kind of definitive line. And although by MOST metrics I am firmly within the range of Millennial, some would place me in Gen X, because there are no standards.

The world is changing so quickly and it's accelerating, so I think we're gonna see more new generations get defined in shorter timespans. 2020 is, so, so different to say, 2015.

My thought is that it´s an American concept.

One could rather work with age brackets depending on the context.

But i heard it was done to make more profits to advertise stuff better. Probably for the web it´s nice as well, becasue conflicts create views, which means money.

Outside of making money and splitting the societies - the "generations" have little use i guess.

generation is just a social construct, and so i identify as a boomer

people make up things to feel good about themselves and put others down. pretty sure that's how this got started, too.

It mainly comes from the baby boom in the US after WW2. May be a dated concept now.

I hate that I'm now considered a millenial. There was a time in which people my age were called the Pokemon generation, damn it!

Labeling generations is old news.

Dor HaMabul = generation of the flood
Dor HaPalagah = generation of the division
Dor HaMidbar = Generation of the wilderness
Dor HaShoftim = Generation of the Judges

Also, The Bible judges generations in whole.

“This evil generation” (Psalm 12:7)
“A stubborn and rebellious generation” (Psalm 78:8)

So yeah, old news. We just put a marketing spin on it is all.
