Why are corporate suits never fired instead of regular employees?
Personally, it seems to me, that if a company really wanted to save money, it'd be easier to fire the bean counters and suits that cost millions of dollars EVERY YEAR if not every day than the average Joe making $15 an hour. After all, if something must be done that's for the good and profitability of the company, then even the suits shouldn't be exempt.

If a company is NOT defined by its C suite or most expensive employees, then it's quite easy then to get rid of the "liabilities" that prevent it from truly being profitable and successful. Millions of dollars saved, firing ONE person instead of thousands.

If capitalism was truly putting companies' profits at the top of the ladder as the most important and valuable asset, then NO ONE would be immune, and EVERYONE would be equally expendable. At this point, I'm all for AI deciding who gets fired, starting with the people at the TOP.

well they do get fired, its just they really do not suffer anything from it because it usually comes with a nice golden parachute.

I imagine the bigger problem is how much of a company's success is tied to stock options and bonuses. Since stock options are rarely "realized gains", they cannot be used to fund the company because they only exist on paper. And maybe that's the problem. The average small business owner has actual overhead costs that they need to write a check for. The average Fortune 500 company has its valuation in stock , so doesn't need to realistically do the math that determines whether they can afford their operations based on equity value.

Instead, it's all based on the liquid assets used for all the lower level operations (read: all the warehouses, product, employees, and distribution networks that require a check to be signed). But if AI is the future, then perhaps the AI should be used to determine whether that stock can be translated to actual liquid assets, which can then be used to increase the company's overall profits and lower the operating cost. And if that means cutting more C suite AND their bonuses, stock options, and equity, so be it. ALL are equally expendable on the alter of capitalism.

It's called Shareholder Supremacy and it's the fault of Dodge vs Ford.

The enumeration of the legumes, and the personnel whose duties include said reckoning, are not the problem. The systemic issue manifests almost entirely with the individuals that were, during their formative years, unable to grasp the intricacies of basic mathematics yet somehow rose the corporate ladder through some combination of power ties, backstabbing and/or genealogy.

Getting a massive pay off isn't my idea of being fired.

One of my bosses once was paid off about £40k to leave. Really grits me this, she messed up the bag, screwed over workers and she gets rewarded for it.

no, CEOs quietly retire. they only get fired when they get arrested. usually when it involves some diddy-esque activities.

"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others" type of situation, specially given the golden parachute they're given if they're fired. :steamfacepalm:
