Google needs to be revamped
I appreciate the capability to search by image. But regular search results often prioritize reddit, AI, and Wiki at the top. These are followed by several related sites and then it falls flat after that. It used to return pages of sites that were actually relevant. Plus you could refine your search to include strings, exact phrases, exclusions and so on. Is internet to vast to handle? It seems like it's getting harder to find things now. Is there a better search engine than google?

when I was in school, they told us there is some place to look up information, like a library for education purpose, its not the usual search engine, it used a similar method and for more relevant and professional answers.

I didn't pay much attention back then and I am stuck with usual search engine,

It used to be cool to be knowledgable in something because you actually had to learn and research. Research now consists of copy and paste AI results. We do not use our brains and you know what evolution does to parts that are not being used.

Chromium is not Google

what about the chrome used in wheel trim on cars? are they part of google?
Sad thing is ai books are sneaking into libraries too. Got to choose whether to live 5 years in thw past pre ai or muddle through all the slop for 1 in 20 manmade articles

SearXNG or ecosia or Brave Search (albeit it can have AI slop, but can be fully disabled on the settings section) seem to be quite good search engines atm.

Google searches have been getting worse for more than a decade. It is almost like people pay to get a top page placement even if it is not relevant......

Its brutal and only getting worse.
Pretty sure search is intentionally being made useless to push us towards ai. Google search is worthless trash.

Yandex can sometimes be more useful.

Im aware of 1 search engine that doesnt use ai, and seems to still pull results like its 2010, including exact phrases and exclusions... But im scared to even draw attention to it, or itll be made useless too.
