Woke up during shoulder surgery
So, I had surgery the morning of friday (26) ive slept all day so im finger pecking with one hand as nerve block is still active,


But I had a violent reaction to general anesthesia. I have no memory of it but I apparently woke up wide awake right as surgery was finishing and was kicking and punching, trying to get off the gurney,

They gave me so much fentynal tht I am puking and feeding me norco every 6 hours. I came home a few hours ago, eaily the worst pain my my life, but now im pain free as the room spins.


Has anybody else ever woke up mid surgery?

I got my alarm set for evey 6 hours to take my pain meds, pt fotr 12 weeks begins Monday

Scary stuff dont get hooked on fen drug the stories say it leads to a place you cant get out of. Is it a lawsuit type thing did they mess up

No, I've woken up after surgery and couldn't remember a thing. It's really scary if you wake up during it and can't still move or alert them. Rarely happens, but yeah it can. Glad you are fine and rest well.

I remember they had a hard time getting me to sleep for my surgery. But I remember after I fell asleep, it felt like only seconds and I was awake again and I felt very well rested. And I was also mildly confused, but I remember hitting on the nurse who was there in the recovery room. And she also gave me some morphine when I woke up and that was amazing.

Sorry you had that experience, its good you dont remember it. Hopefully they sent you home with the good stuff. I had some oxy to hold me over for a while

yes, during my wisdom tooth extraction and during most anaesthesia surgeries I'm still conscious. sometimes they ask me things in this state and I have to gently remind them it's illegal to question someone under anaesthesia, even in the absence of a motive or specific conflict it could be enabling.

Update:

Thanks everybody for the warm wishes. I am still in some pain but I am recovering, going to PT and no longer taking the pain pills, I am using Tylenol as needed and icing several times a day.

Every day I get a little stronger. Safe week my fellow gamers!

Good luck dude, I am currently home due to back issues from work, hoping not to need surgery myself.

Keep sharing, the more people know the better, helps to consider if surgery is always an option or not or if there are viable alternatives.

Never woke up mid surgery, one time when coming out of anesthesia I tried to sit right up off the recovery table, and knocked over a tray of instruments sitting nearby.🙄
