I kinda wonder what the logic of it is. So far everytime the opposition party (either side) has triggered a shutdown that party took it in the neck. Add to that I thought DOGE was bad from the lefts point of view.. ..it's usually HARD to fire US FED employees, however layoff's because you don't have the budget to pay them fall into a different category. There is no law statute, or policy that(I am aware of) means you have to fill those positions once govt re-opens. Sure they get 1st refusal if you re-activate the position, but if one doesn't it basically becomes a permanent layoff.b I suspect Musk loves democrats at the moment, as they are more likely to permantely reduce the federal workforce than DOGE ever did or could..

I generaly like (in broad terms from 40k feet) many democratic goals. .. . how they plan to get there often appears like a moron leading an idiot. I swear when my daughter was FIVE she had a better grasp of consequences. /exasperated

Trump told Republicans "Dont even bother with them" meaning the Democrats.

The Democrats are not in this conversation. The Republicana have the House, Senate, Presidency and the Courts.

If you want ICE, the FBI, our Troops and Border Control getting paid, pay them. If not, don't.

Note that the Whitehouse article is *highly* partisan. The likelihood that the information in that article is entirely accurate and free from bias is practically zero.

This is what happens when partisan hacks write "official" documents for the sake of protecting one man's fragile, infantile ego.

There's a bit more to it than just that...

800+ US federal government members currently have voted towards having no pay what-so-ever and a government shutdown, if it would stop Trump's American Autocracy / abuse of power.

Even willing to sacrifice for the real America. Much respect.

They are suggesting a temporary suffer over Trump's long term suffering. Trump has pushed his American Autocracy too far and even broken US Laws / US Constitution to try do so.

Yet it's up to Trump himself if they are going to have the US Government shutdown or not. Trump even cancelled having meetings with them. He's at fault. Trump won't even address the current US Health Care Crisis for the US Citizens. Instead he would rather threaten more mass layoffs (if DOGE wasn't a failure enough).

Couldnt the ds instead reinstate free healrh for citizens instead
Spend the 500 mil media money on citizens food benefits
Provide citizens with an inflation check to compensate for printing 1.5 trillion paper dollars

You can tell OP is all about those continuing resolutions.
