Hedging against the US economic volatility
This thread is for discussing strategies in how to preserve your money in uncertain times.

Common hedges:
-Real Estate
-Commodities, utilities, healthcare, and energy sector stocks. Basically holding shares in industries that have inelastic demand
-Defense and security stocks. Since the US government wants war, they'll be giving more money to the military industrial complex. Might as well invest in them as well.
-Precious metals (Gold, Silver, Copper, etc)
-Some people are also buying crypto, but I ain't touching that dumpster fire.

Why is a US economic reset coming?

metal safest bet cant inflate that but possible confiscation is a small threat, crypto is risky one law could make it all illegal, real estate could crash in a way if no one has money but could also be super safe hard to say, cash is instant loss of 10% a year, stocks are gamble maybe maybe not

I've been out of the market since 2020 sitting on cash drawing interest.... been waiting and waiting. Seems they keep coming up with ways to artificially hold it up over and over.

I'll let everyone know when I decide to jump back in.. the mf will be bound to crash as soon as do.

I put it all into Sardines.
Futurama taught me they'd be worth a lot of money someday.

Buy gold.
Uncle Sam 2024 年 4 月 21 日 下午 2:10
Gold, Silver, mining companies, semi-conductors companies, water desalination companies (specially due the upcoming wars for potable water), energy sector companies in general. As per real estate sure there can be some investments made, however is better to wait until the reset happens to have more gains at a cheap price like in 2008.

Edit: Ah also fiber optic companies, since the so called Global South is going to go through rapid development during this century and the next one.

Your more right than you think.

Mitsubishi produced a fleet of ships for blue fin tuna some years ago.

I'm starting to notice rent coming down and people selling large vehicles much much cheaper. Tesla is tanking a bit (havn't checked to see if Elon is selling lately). Hopefully Tesla will lead the charge of the downfall.

Tesla is getting undercut by BYD, which produces EVs at a much more affordable prices. Then after a slump in sales reports + failure of cybertruck + announcement of layoffs, their stock value crashed from $261 per share to $147 per share.

I'd buy it for $70 I've bought and sold the dips of it with some quick deals.. granted I should have held it till 250 but played it much safer.

Yeah if it dips any further, then I'd buy it. Elon or not, it's still arguably the best US-based EV manufacturer and I doubt even the US government would let it die.

If you buy precious metals such as gold, which is a good idea, make sure you have them physically in your possession. Not on paper, or even in a bank security box. As you may know, during the Depression in the 1930s President Roosevelt ordered all bank boxes sealed and their contents inventoried, so the gov't could take the gold and give you paper dollars for it.
If things get bad enough it could happen again.
