Steam Frame base station adapter a possibility?
Is there any chance of getting an official adapter of sorts for base station support?

I'm using full body trackers (vive) most of the time and possibly VR gloves in the near future.
I'd love an official face plate or a tracked head strap that connects and calibrates as seamlessly as possible.

I know there are ways to track an inside out headset with a separate tracker, but the calibration and such seems to be quite a hassle + you need to charge it separately.

While the Index is EOL, the vive/tundra trackers and Index controllers are still very much in use especially in the VRC community.

If there's anyone at Valve reading this, i and many others would love some peace of mind about the compatibility of the Frame and our trackers and controllers.

Thank you.

The headset has IR emittance. I'm not sure why a headset would have a visual component, like IR, if not for additional tracking.

There's no confirmation this is what it's for, but I'd have to imagine that's the case.

Here's where it's mentioned (22:40) https://youtu.be/bWUxObt1efQ?si=3_stKMw0YNp0cDWp&t=1360

To help the cameras see better in low light conditions.

Steam Frame has no support for Lighthouse tracking. The IR emitters on the HMD are solely for "night vision" to illuminate a space in low light conditions where typical camera-based tracking systems don't work.

I'd be doubtful that Valve will be releasing anything in regards to this, however, the front nose-bridge port could potentially open the door for 3rd party accessories that could add-on a lighthouse tracker to the HMD.

If you already have an Index then I'd suggest just keeping that for full body tracking use.

If you want VR with all the new Valve features but still use lighthouse tracking there is the Pimax Dream Air, but it has much higher res micro OLED so will cost quite a bit more.

Not quite "All" of the new features; but certainly the majority of them.

The Dream Air (either model) isn't going to do on-device stand-alone for your Steam library like Steam Frame will. But other than that, the rest of the tech Valve is doing will/should work on any PCVR headset that has wireless streaming and eye tracking.

OP you could post this as a suggestion in the Steam suggestions forum

They literally mention it has IR lights to light up the room so you can always have tracking regardless of lighting conditions.
