You're saying I can pretty safely jump to the Xbox One controller though, without any real noticeable hurdles? Outside of aesthetics? Do you have one?
Games already setup and/or configured for your 360 controller (the way you have it already) you should be ready to go, nothing special to do.
If you intent to use One controller wirelessly; then I'd suggest getting a lithium rechargeable battery pack for it and not rely on using 2xAA batteries, as well as a USB "Charge Only" cable.
Though my 360 gamepads are a little loose in the battery pack area, and certain brands of AA battery vary enough in physical size that the batteries swim a little bit... making them disconnect if the controller shakes a little too abruptly. I wonder if the Xbox One pad is any better in that regard.
