Just about every app in the world has a basic set of emoticons .... that are really good compared to Steam. The Steam emoticons are completely useless, no one uses them.

If you're looking for emoji, steam supports them. if you're on a windows computer, there's even a keyboard shortcut for adding them.
press Windows key + . (period). The emoji keyboard appears.
