Next time, read the instructions that came with that controller. It is in the box. It tells you all the modes for it. The pc mode for that particular controller actually works better than the nintendo switch mode. Ive tested it myself, and found the nintendo switch mode is buggy, even on a nintendo switch. The pc mode works flawlessly. Been using it for 2 years now.
I'm mostly using the Nintendo Switch mode specifically because of the Gyros. I have not setup the Gyros for when I'm playing Dishonored but I do use Gyros on other FPS or TPS games.
Also, check Gulikit website for the most updated firmware version. I had to get it before to play a game.
It was not that hard to fix it (just unpack and run the program for auto-detection of the controller) but it should still just function normally on Steam as it was before this latest Steam client update.
It should. Sorry you had to install some third party program. I had to do this with a final fantasy game one time, i think ff8.
I'm not totally averse to using JoyShockMapper but I would definitely prefer if the problem was fixed on Steam's end :( Do you have to run JoyShockMapper again every time you want to play?
Would you see if clearing the controller mappings results in the controller being detected?

I'd suggested it in another thread facing the same issue as y'all but seems like its OP missed or ignored my post, so I'm still curious if this will resolve things or not for you guys.
Yes, I do have to run JoyShockMapper every time I want to use the Nintendo Switch mode with this controller.
JoyShockMapper is still my temporary fix.
Thanks for trying it and for the feedback
Valve dev says the issue is fixed for the next beta update:
