Controller issue with this new update
I was playing Dishonored just fine with a GuliKit KingKong Pro 2 controller with the Nintendo Switch mode.

Because of an achievement not being registered correctly on my Achievements page, I decided to close the game and restart Steam. It automatically started to update Steam after re-opening it and then I restarted the game. That is when I noticed that none of my controller inputs were being recognized in-game.

After checking the Controller setting menu on Steam, it wasn't detecting the Nintendo Switch mode that was already working just fine before the update. The Windows mode does work but my main controller mode is just not working anymore.

UPDATE: I installed the "JoyShockMapper" program and it makes Steam recognize and detects my controller with the Nintendo Switch mode as a Nintendo Switch Pro controller.

It was not that hard to fix it (just unpack and run the program for auto-detection of the controller) but it should still just function normally on Steam as it was before this latest Steam client update.

You do know that controller also has a pc mode? I have same controller and works fine with pc mode. Switch to pc mode. If that does not help, ask on the GuliKit support website. They helped me twice when i had issues, and even sent me a firmware update for a specific game i had trouble with.

Next time, read the instructions that came with that controller. It is in the box. It tells you all the modes for it. The pc mode for that particular controller actually works better than the nintendo switch mode. Ive tested it myself, and found the nintendo switch mode is buggy, even on a nintendo switch. The pc mode works flawlessly. Been using it for 2 years now.

Next time, please read the OP a little bit better. I already told that I could use both the Nintendo Switch and the Windows (PC) modes before the update (it's literally the last line of my post). I know what I'm doing with this controller.

I'm mostly using the Nintendo Switch mode specifically because of the Gyros. I have not setup the Gyros for when I'm playing Dishonored but I do use Gyros on other FPS or TPS games.

Did you try using the in game settings for controllers dishonored? Sometimes games have settings for controllers you can mess with. Also, what overlays do you have open? This also can mess with controllers. For example, the xbox overlay, which is found on all windows 11 pc's can mess with pc controllers specifically. I have it off by default. You could also go into big picture mode, uncheck all controllers used in steam, and see if the game sees your controller and uses it.

Also, check Gulikit website for the most updated firmware version. I had to get it before to play a game.

It should. Sorry you had to install some third party program. I had to do this with a final fantasy game one time, i think ff8.

I'm having the same problem with a wireless Switch controller, and others have chimed in to say the same! My thread: https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/discussions/forum/1/658216290030328407/

I'm not totally averse to using JoyShockMapper but I would definitely prefer if the problem was fixed on Steam's end :( Do you have to run JoyShockMapper again every time you want to play?

@Lucky Zelle
Would you see if clearing the controller mappings results in the controller being detected?

I'd suggested it in another thread facing the same issue as y'all but seems like its OP missed or ignored my post, so I'm still curious if this will resolve things or not for you guys.

@Lucky Zelle

Yes, I do have to run JoyShockMapper every time I want to use the Nintendo Switch mode with this controller.

This did nothing to fix my controller issue. I don't know about anyone else, though.

JoyShockMapper is still my temporary fix.
