No one is being *forced* to buy a game.
It has never been easier then before with sites such as twitch or youtube to see how the game is before ever spending any money.
Early access helps fund games that in many cases would never have happened and it falls on the consumers to spend their money wisely.
That has nothing to do with Early Access games.
This. I have my problems with Early Access, but this isn’t one of them. For most EA titles you can find info online as to what they play like as someone else already stated. Or you can at least find reviews on Steam. If you can’t find any information about the game: DON’T BUY IT until you can find information about it. That goes for non-EA games as well, though.
Not to mention, some pretty huge successes started out in EA: Baldur’s Gate 3, Darkest Dungeon, Divinity: Original Sin 1 & 2, Hades & Hades II, Subnautica, Slay the Spire, Rimworld, etc.
Having to make a decision is not being forced to do something.
Lots of games I might want to try... when they're released out of Early Access AND the reviews are decent.
If someone wants to make a different decision, they're not being forced to.
There's always going to be fools, it's not your job to manage them or save them. Also your opinion about other people's game decisions aren't objective fact.
Also aside from Mommy and Daddy, let's not forget the adult who makes more than poverty wages, and has the option of refunding a game too. Oversimplifying and making derogatory comments about people who make different decisions than you may not be the big brain argument you think it is.
I really wish people would think for one minute before posting nonsensical bs.
Early access is far more rare now than what it was and people are more clued up to what the concept entails compared to 10 years ago. The blue box on every product store page whereby a game is in this status should be understood and not overlooked.
Just look at games like EAs Command & Conquer: Generals 2. A lot of work went into it until testing showed weaknesses, then it got canceled. And that wasn't imagined investment.
I've never bought an EA game, and I'm pretty sure nobody is forcing *you* either.
Also, BIG BLUE warning box is on EVERY Early Access games store page.
It tells you that you are purchasing a unfinished game and the game may or may not get updated.
You are given a straight up warning that the game may never be finished.
If you still buy it and get upset that the game doesn't get finished, that is a YOU problem.
