So is Valve reverting the garbage decision to remove VGUI or will I have to suffer with the new UI design?
I've been an OG-Steam user since OG-Steam's release and have been quite happy with it. But ever since the new change everything I loved about Steam's in-game and out of game UI is gone and has turned into frustration. Why does steam require me to add let's say Plutonium to my library if I want the Steam overlay? It worked just fine before the update, now I have to add it to my library and even then it isn't consistent. Why did they remove VGUI? VGUI wasn't hurting anything except a small portion of Steam's memory which Valve can most definitely handle. This decision is one of the stupidest Valve has made in a while and I hope a revert or at the very least a fix is added.

Reverting? Given Valve's history it is extremely unlikely.

As for the "why", people can make guesses that affirm their own beliefs, but who knows other than Valve.

Again, we can only reference Valve's actions in the past, they don't really backtrack but they do modify a few things here and there afterwards.

Hope for the best; Prepare for the worst.

-VGUI will likely be back but the new VGUI will basically be based around the new UI, not the old one sooo. yeah you'r bummed dude.

Well... Not sure if it's an answer.
But this thread is the solution to revert and downgrade version of the Steam with a bit close to VGUI.

Using -vgui allowed you to run the old client UI. But Valve was never going to leave the old client ui/code in there forever. So without the old code, the command isn't going to do anything anyway. Valve is not going to add the old code back in, or do anything to encourage use of the old UI. Valve isn't going to want to support two UI's. And Invariably people running the old UI will complain when things break or don't work right anyway.

So... what do you think?

Changed everything? Really?

These are of the new and old UI. Barely a change. The Steam Overlay has been changed but you can choose between text or buttons.

They redid the backend of Steam in order to change things faster among other things.

Do not worry, they are reading what we write, but won't at any cost do what we ask. They are just trying to fix the bugs they created with their mess. Full time job considering the level.

Why would valve even consider the (less then) 1% of users which write in this Board to complain?

You "Forgot" the disclaimer that is necessary to add to your comment there so I will do my part to add it for you: Using an older version of Steam is a security risk as it also means preventing Steam to update to the later versions. This means that if people use an older version of Steam it can not get the recent security updates for the web browser built in to the steam app via updates for the steam client. There is some risk involved with doing that and it may not be a good choice for everyone.

Cause their surveys are made up. They bought the survey, what could you expect? Only 1% of Steam users would own two devices with Win 7 on the old one and Win 10+ on the new? Read again plz. Surveys are made by and for the entity that provide them. Or managers are blind, which seem fairly possible though considering the users anger.

The way it works with Steam is that it occasionally pops up a message saying something like "Steam would like to survey the hardware on your computer" message and people have to click it and run it. If people don't run it then Steam doesn't survey their computer. What is probably happening is people doing like I have been doing in the past: Every time I saw that pop up for my Steam account on my modern Ryzen 5800X computer I would decline it and not submit it. Instead I would go and boot up an old computer with a single core processor running Windows 7 with 2GB ram and an old GeForce 7000 series video card and log in to steam once or twice a day every day for a few weeks until the prompt for a hardware survey appeared on the old computer then I would scan it there and submit it to make sure old hardware appears in the survey results.

Precisely. Survey saying 1% of users only are on Win 7 is unreliable. Even with 10M probed on 20M users.

Dude, you've been shown that you are outright lying about those UI changes at least 3 separate times. Maybe it's time to stop?
