Hey guys, it's been a little minute but I've had an insane amount of things going on recently and wanted to make todays update a special one. So much is happening all at once but to summarise... New Warsim Update, We're on the frontpage of Steam, I'm announcing my new game, and its Kickstarter Campaign, and we're in a bundle on Steam with the legendary Dwarf Fortress!

So monsters have been a thing for a long time, a feature I love loads. There are 10's of thousands of monsters with their parts defining how they fight. You can fight up to 60 different monster trainers with unique events in your monster pit and get up to all sorts with them. There are a few things I wanted to improve though... Monsters getting stronger for winning lots (like XP), and a rework of the monster HP system which would almost completely randomise the monsters HP out of it max HP each fight.

Now monsters level every 100xp and gain xp from eating or killing a rival monster, your trainers also skill them up each year.

* Removed 20 strength cap for monsters

* Added +5xp gain when feeding a monster

* Added +50xp gain when a monster wins a fight

* Added monster level up screen

* Halved average monster HP

* Added chance monster spawns with randomised hp

* Added chance monster spawns with 1-25% bonus random hp

* Added chance monster spawns with 25% bonus hp

* Added chance monster spawns with 50% of his hp randomised

* Added chance monster spawns with 50% bonus hp

* Fixed monster pit challengers not saved with the game

A new opponent arrives, with our new HP system it chooses from a few states that defines how their health generates in based on the stats they have.

Success! And no public opinion loss for monster fighting either

After a second win we get our first level up! And yes it can get a little OP if you get past the first few levels and make your monster super strong but... isn't that what it's all about. Also I haven't tested how much damage a high level monster with the highest upgrade tier monster harnesses can do in a real battle but I'm sure I'll see some wild screenshots after this update

After a chat in the Warsim discord we've got these new changes!

* Added ability to exile goblin slaver

* Added relation drop event for exiling goblin slaver (-4 relation with slavers)

* Added new tags to slaver options to make it clear how it effect relation

* Fixed corpse raise in lands beyond can be done infinitely allowing an infinite undead army (credit Kergar)

* Fixed finely crafted wicker skull text bug

* Fixed monster killed in battle text bug (credit SkeletorsUncle)

* Fixed boozetap building text bug

So for the last 5+ years I've dreamed of what would come next for me after Warsim but kept myself busy enough and never made the plunge. By mid 2023 I started seriously cooking up my next concept and founded my new game studio Worldviper Studios[www.worldviper.com].

By Jan 2024 the bones began being worked on slowly and part time, in 2025 it started growing even more and our small team expanded. Now I'm trying to raise the funds to bring together a team fully capable of building this new beast!

What is Slumbox you might ask?

It's a Cyberpunk LifeSim RPG, live your life in an insane city full of fighting factions, evil corporations, corrupt cops, and 1000s of people trying to get on with their lives. Work a 9-5 and play video games on your home console, or hit the Wastelands outside the city and try to survive. I've always loved RPGs so much that I tried to shoehorn as many rpg features into Warsim as possible. Slumbox is my chance to finally make my ultimate dream game

It's honestly been a scary adventure trying to build a game where It's not entirely floated myself but one big bonus I have is having created Warsim and having now over 200,000 people who've bought a previous game I've made, which is a huge vote of confidence (and also so far directly funded all work on Slumbox)

If you've been in the Warsim community long enough you'll know this, but any questions or comments you've got about Slumbox I'm all here for so don't be a stranger!

Late last year I was able to finally get properly in touch with the legends at Kitfox Games. I'd heard of them for a long time with their publishing of Dwarf Fortress, Caves of Qud and in-house development of other cool games but I never thought I'd meet them.

I had the pleasure of a long video call with the big boss lady and ended up speaking to several other members of staff and I'm honestly in love with them as a studio, it's evident to me that they are exactly the type of studio we need more of in the industry. Really sweet people, indie to a T, and keen to make good games.

We agreed to do a bundle collaboration and honestly now I can say my dreams have come true, starting back in 2015 with Warsim, DF was 100% a huge inspiration and something that astounded me for it's long dev cycle and depth.

Absolute pleasure to be bundled with such a powerful game!

Well my life is insane, I was able to put a downpayment on a new house thanks to Warsim, and now I'm working on Slumbox with my team under my new game company Worldviper Studios[www.worldviper.com] and preparing for a new season of gigs and tours with my band Dim Parcio (who are also in Slumbox ːdealwithitː)

I will continue to keep Warsim going in some capacity, I've been saying it for years but it's just not possible for me to truly drop this game, I love it too much!

CheffJeff on our Warsimlike discord is probably the Warsimlikes Goat, he's been working on some incredible stuff and also singehandedly saved Warsim from a huge bug that broke development December 2023 by helping me through an issue that I couldn't wrap my head around personally, absolute hero.

The first Warsimlike to go on steam, fun fact about this. It's the only other game on steam that references Aslona (nice little easter egg) and the developer is a longtime Warsim community legend LeMachinga, who came up with a redesign for the mushroom men faces that became the standard, leading to a possible mushroom name for shroomling characters 'LeMushinga'. The second Warsimlike you can find on steam! 'Text-based 4X with a focus on turf war and resource management. Roots of Harmony is an old-school keyboard-controlled casual game where you have to lead your colony to different stages of development, while facing various threats and managing your doctrines and disciples.' The newest entry to this list, this beauty showed up on our Warsimlikes discord and is hotly in development and getting a lot of love already!

This one announced on our Warsimlike discord recently and looks interesting, Warsim community member Vortexlh has been working on this one for a bit and plans to continue to! I can't wait to see how it progresses.

A new project by community member Geeknik[x.com] which has been slowly underway and looks pretty interesting. I hope development continues!

Entered on the list after this post popped up on the Warsim subreddit. It's a Warsimlike where you play a small time drug dealer. A very interesting early project that I hope continues to grow!

An early project being crafted on our discord by Bazaboo, who is currently working on some fun stuff with kingdom generation and history generation, awesome to see them having so much fun with it!

This game is one that used the Warsim generators that were released as a free tool for DMs and other game devs a little while back, here we see one of Warsims Underling faces and it's awesome to see our generators go to use like this! Check it out here[bigjk.itch.io].

Adding it here as an honourable mention, this game was made after the initial warsim demo but before I took on Warsim properly and began turning it into a game. This proc gen wasteland explorer game was worked on intensely for 6 months before I had the source code wiped... Didn't keep any backups back then like a bloody idiot but hey lessons learned...
