I was trying to get through the whole game without resorting to a guide or help but now I'm stuck. I believe I have completed all ages except for the one I am currently in: the mechanical age with the rotating fortress. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. Since the latest update, the game won't launch for me. I get "SteamAPI_Init() failed No SteamFriends018!" as an error message. It seems someone else has had a similar issue with Riven just a few days ago....

I have identified the correct symbols from the star charts, bug, snake and leaf. When I go to select them on the relevant pillars next to the model ship in the pool, the symbol goes from red to green with a sound, then revert to off. Should the symbols stay green to indicate they have been selected?...
