Does the game allow for infinite use of continues/credtis while playing? Or does the game force you to start over from the beginning every time you run out of lives?

I played and loved this game two summers ago. It gave me no problems whatsoever. I just reinstalled, and it starts up with weird, garbled graphics... basically displaying the game in a vertical rectangle in the middle of the screen, which fills the screen from top to bottom and is filled with alternating horizontal bands of blackness (empty) and color graphics. When I navigate to Options (with some difficulty, as I can only see graphics in the colored bands), I can see that the resolution is defaulting t...

I drop to a black screen and can't do anything about, can't get back to the desktop no matter what... ctrl + alt + del doesn't work, hitting the windows key doesn't work... nothing... have to force a reboot... anyone else having this?

Seems that attempting to rebind anything to Space successfully registers it, but then fails to actually function. I made the mistake of binding the start button to Space, and now I'm trying to figure out how to fix that one...

I was watching the count down more or less... had less than an hour to go and no go? :(
