Im sure that i longer survived than 10min but i dont get the Achivement. Why?

Hi I like the game but i dont know how to change magic, I press all the runes nothing happned, and only fireball came out of my hands. If i could send like a beam of light from my hands that would be nice, or litf a wall of bones to slow the advance or something like that or a little of telekinesiss to push them away. i hope u can upgrade this kind of things TY!!!!!! Ps: SOrry for my english...

Using the "A" button on the left controler, brings a circular runic menu which i don't know the purpose , can you tell me more please about it ?
