Is it even possible to beat this stupid game on hard??? The campaign's difficulty is insane

I hate the checkpoint system with passion. No, I DON'T want to replay the same missions over and over again just because I suck at fighting a boss, or a particularly hard level. I don't have time for that kind of s..t. Fortunately, Alt-F4 allows me to escape the game without the need to replay. But really, there was no need for this design decision in the first place, as the game is already quite hard. Or at least give the player a "casual" option, dammit!...
