Awful.

The BEST combination of fan service and Hack n' Slash gameplay. Since it's series creation back in 2004 on PS2, which was never released here in North America. Simple gameplay! Maximum enjoyment!

Shockingly better than it has any right to be!

Onechanbara Z2:Chaos is an actioned-packed,team-based,combo-centric,hack & slash,gore-o-thon, that's every bit as over the top and ridiculous as its own name. In it, you wield the power of the two Baneful Sisters, Aya and Saki, a clan of scantly clad heroines who kick-ass and look good doing it. Along side the deadly duo you are met with a second pair of vicious vixens, Kagura & Saaya, vampiric-chainsaw-swinging sisters whom have a bone to pick with The Baneful but put their difference aside to fight an even bigger threat-ZOMBIES AND S#$%! Sound ridiculous? It is! and in allllll the right ways.

Onechanbara is a long lasting series that actually dates back to the Playstation2 era. Back then, the games were simple and the prices even simpler, thus the brand name "Simple 2000 Series". Onechanbara Z2 keeps in line with this idea, where as you are immediately flung into some over the top stupid s#$% to fight, and you just go mashing away at the buttons to get it all done. Its fun, and doesn't really take a lot to get right into the mix to have your dames do some serious damage. Z2 manages to step it up a notch though by adding a rather robust and rewarding combo system that rewards a player for timing their button presses juuuust right to get a faster and more powerful version of those attacks. And then takes it one step further by adding in a whopping FOUR playable characters that's you can tag in freely, even mid-combo, at anytime. Couple that with a pretty rockin soundtrack and a hilarious script with some great voice acting, and what you got here is an over the top, frantic, B-horror movie-esque, good time!

What can I say, if it ain't broke don't fix it! Onechanbara Z2:Chaos knows EXACTLY what it is and it revels in it. It not only takes the piss, it flips it over and pisses on the other side of it too just for funsies. And I cant help but admire a game for that. It's a bit fanservice-y in the form of the scantly dressed clothed women, but in all honesty, had the girls been fully clad in armor the game STILL would have been a super fun time with great gameplay and equally great dialogue. If the idea of a controllable shlock horror-action movie with bikini babes sounds like a good time to you, then you'll probably get a kick out of this one for the right price. That being said, it is an older title, and while I had no issues running 99% of it, both the opening and ending cinematics didn't actually display for me, so just keep that in mind.
