A puzzle game with a distinctive style, Alice’s Patchwork brought back memories of similar titles I used to play on web browsers and early mobile phones some 16 years ago. There’s a nostalgic charm to it. The game features six main chapters, each with 20 levels, for a total of 120 stages, with difficulty that gradually ramps up.

For casual players, it works perfectly as a relaxing experience—you can take your time solving puzzles while enjoying its soothing background music and unique art style. On the other hand, more hardcore players can approach it with a sense of urgency and challenge, since each level has three conditions for a “perfect” clear: complete the puzzle, make zero mistakes, and finish within a time limit.

As you progress, the difficulty increases significantly. Later puzzles can have over 60 pieces, yet the game only gives you six pieces at the start—the rest must be deduced through gameplay. If you’re aiming to perfect every level, it becomes a solid challenge. Many stages require repeated attempts; even if you memorize the final image, the pieces you’re given are randomized each time, demanding quick adaptation and strong dynamic memory.

That said, some levels feel excessively difficult—arguably to an unreasonable degree. Outside of brute-force repetition and memorization, it’s hard to rely purely on strategy for a first-time perfect clear, which somewhat undermines the spirit of a puzzle game. At this point, players can spend in-game currency to use hints or extend the timer by 30 seconds (costing 5000 coins each).

Still, these issues don’t overshadow what the game does best. As mentioned earlier, its standout strengths lie in its distinctive visual style and beautiful soundtrack. All 120 puzzles are based on classic, dreamlike scenes from Alice in Wonderland . Simply restoring each image piece by piece while the music plays is already an enjoyable experience in itself—let alone the sense of surprise when the full picture finally comes together.

All in all, this is a very unique puzzle game, and I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys the genre.
