The game has enemies who walk fast and who are in huge bunches so you cannot weave through them. You must run in big circles over and over, or you can't collect XP. I never spent any time thinking about what my attacks were doing. Even if I did know where they were coming out in relation to me in a useful fashion, they don't change the fact that I have to run in circles.
