But for a new player. I would definitely suggest giving the game a try or at least go through the free trial before buying the game as you would have quite a lot of content and story to go through and of course enjoy at your own pace!
Edit: ohh you bought the game already!
Too much hassle there, just sticking to PS5.
Steam is better!
Other mmos that are pouring in from Korea are Gacha, huge p2w and uber toxic!
I will say this TAKE YOUR TIME to play the game there no need to rush enjoy the gameplay and meet peoples throught, who know you may meet bunch of good peoples (also bad but who know)
You should try out all the class around lvl 15 to 20 and after you try then, stick with one untild you finish the main story (arr) and lvl up other class afterward.
Some jobs class like dragoon will be mention a lots in the next expansion (will let you see it for yourself) and pretty much each jobs will hint or be mention here or there.
If you want to start crafting or gathers also good for daily life and take it slowly
Novice chat/mentors can help you out if you got more question (depend on server your on)
Pretty much everything at the start is lock behind msq while other you need to get (like how to dye your clothes, how to found map and dig them up etc) If your on free trial you can play up right into stormblood (70) so you got a good chunks of gameplay.
On my case kind did everything before moving into the next epxnasion (and no i din't do the achivemnt there way to many!!!!) to get all the experience and also all the tiny bit of lore =P
Depends on what you want out of it. Despite the ups and downs, one thing has remained the same about this game. It is for casual players. It does have PVP, the guild stuff like other MMO's, high level raids, etc. but its shining light is single player content.
It comes down to are you fine with that?
It is absolutely perfect from start to finish.
Play it, then play it again,
Buy everything from the store, the per character items buy for all your characters and all your character's retainers.
Totally worth it.
Just uninstall all other games.
My only recommendation would be not to interact with the community through general chat because FF14 is a cesspool. This goes for some of the server's novice channel as well. You've got tons of mentally deranged people who appear to have long since tired of the game and only persist there to try and bait people into their crazy.
Yes, many MMO chats are like this, but FF14 can take it into turbo cancer levels.
FF14 is a little non-traditional to something like WoW.
it plays like a singleplayer RPGMMO rather than an MMORPG.
meaning yes you have the multiplayer aspect, but the only integration into multiplayer is the dungeons and/or trials and other things you unlock along the way, but the main story questline (Or MSQ) as people call it, will be strictly solo and cutscene / walls of text only.
Also, there is no choice on how to proceed with the story, it is a linear experience so if you want something more engaging like the star wars old republic MMO and its multi-choice system along with branching story, you won't find it here I'm afraid.
The game is fun and addicting, I will admit, after all i would not have played 4000 hours on it, But it is not for everyone's cup. It is for you to decide what to do and what you are looking for in an MMO.
The housing system is good, made even better with housing specific mods which I am sure are not encouraged, but without them building is a bit of a pain in the ass tbh, the races within the game are nice too, though some may not really fit you or your character, for example for the life of me I'd never be able to make a male Lizard man because they are just so edgy.
No.
