I was really enthusiastic about trying out the game, doing exorcisms, defeating demons with the power of god, helping out the villagers, and honestly I was really excited about how the story was going in the first chapters, having the subject of doubting his faith and the demons taunting the player about god having abandoned the land.

But it all came to... just being exactly like any type of religious propaganda. The main character doubts his faith a little, but the angel is coming so its all going to be fine. The fact that he has to use his own blood, suffer for a god that's apparently not here to witness him, that felt like profound symbolism of self-sacrifice, and I suppose as a non-christian I don't see this extreme type of self sacrifice to be a good thing, but I was really hoping it was going to be a subject.

Maybe after all his suffering, he could be taught that he didn't have to slowly kill himself to save others. But no, if you don't miss anything the game tells you that's exactly what you should do, and I'm not sure in this day and age it's the kind of moral I'd like to see in a story.

I wish the faith in him was more shaken until he had to make a choice despite succeeding everytime. I wish the story didn't set up so much about faith not being quite enough when it comes to cataclysmic events, until it actually was just enough and you just needed to believe hard enough.

The minigames were fun though, perfect length for a game like this because I think the minigames would have gotten stale after 10 hours of gameplay.

Anyway yeah I don't think this game was for me as a non believer but I love stories about faith and overcoming evil with determination, I just wished it was less enthusiastic and non critical about killing yourself for the greater good

9/10 cause they didn't give the priest a shotgun

Really fun short game! The art is phenomenal, and it's perfectly matched with the music and the sound effects. The atmosphere is consistent through on through and you never feel ripped out of. There may be one or two things inconsistent via accuracy in writing, but it's perfect for the time period imo. The only discrepancy is that they say you should use a crucifix when you only have a cross. This is an INCREDIBLY important distinction. Sadly, not many games acknowledge this let alone have both the cross and crucifix. Other than that I really do like the game a ton! Seriously please consider playing the demo, and if you like it buy it :D
