Like its predecessor, this game is a love letter to the classics. In Evoland 2, many more styles of games are represented. From turn-based RPGs, to beat-em-ups, to fighting games, to even guitar hero. The core of the game is still in the style of JPRGs, so if that's your cup of tea you'll be guaranteed to have a blast with this one.

I'm writing this review a long time after I've played it. Looking back, compared to Evoland 1, the sequel Evoland 2 improves on the formula in every way. It's longer, the world's bigger, it has more characters, etc. There's so much more content and way more variety. While more variety is good, the gameplay being all over the place makes it more forgettable. I remembered bits of Evoland 1, I remembered nothing of Evoland 2 and had to try hard to refresh my memory. That doesn't make it bad by any means, but I think it's worth pointing out. It's a fun journey, not a very memorable one. Great for casual fun.
