I literally can't leave the first bedroom level .. the door opens to blind walls. What am I doing wrong?

So, the BIG room with the small room with the little door. I get you're supposed to use the lightning as a light source, but if you explore too long, the lightning just STOPS. As a streamer, I like to take my time with these games. But I actually had to get someone to look up a walk though video to FIND the stairs in the room with the tiny door. title says it all, i'm just stuck in the classroom and i have tried E'ing every object i think and running into every wall lol. im a little dumb today i think, it's definitely user error. the game is so lovely and weird, i am enjoying it immensely!! tia <3...

Issue 1: It is possible to softlock yourself. If you run into a door while opening it (at least, the first door into the pillar room) you can get stuck and be unable to move. I was luckily able to close the door again and it pushed me out of the stuck position though. Issue 2: Why in the world does falling off the top of the building reset you to the start of the level? Please install a kill floor that respawns you on top of the building instead. Also would be nice if the slides could actually be slid on...
