When the game asked me first which language I wanted to play in, I accidentally selected German. Now I can't go back - I re installed the game 5 times, I've tried to work it out with Chat GPT, I tried everything.

Slight spoilers ahead. I have the navigators head from the natives, and entered the catacombs under the big monkey head. I followed the head, but on the next screen Guybrush appeared on the far left of the screen and I am unable to move forward, or move back. I can move up and down a small amount but cannot progress or go backwards. Is this a legitimate puzzle, or am I softlocked? Unfortunately my game autosaved just as I entered this screen and my previous manual save is back on Melee Island....
