I feel like this game provided exactly what people wanted, which is essentially another 2D Mega Man game. To me it felt a lot like the classic Mega Man games, both in their good and bad aspects. I liked that you can play the levels in any order, and you could use boss abilities to make the game easier if needed. The base moveset is also already good, and general movement and using the dash feels nice. It is kind of cool the game has a combo system tied to the dash. I feel like someone really good could do some crazy combos although I didn't feel I could master it. The game should have had a hold to shoot system. You gain no charge type shot for your base moveset so there is no conflict. My thumb got extremely tired at some of the boss fights, and not having to mash the attack button would have been a nice quality of life option.

The constant instant death scenarios was frustrating. Being completely halted by one single instant death part in a game doesn't feel good, and it's something that annoyed me in classic Mega Man games too. There was a part in the game with an instant death pink circular saw blade and I had to look up how to get past it. I actually knew how to do it (you need to use a crouched dash), but unlike other parts of the game where the pink insta death obstacles are unforgiving in terms of hitbox, you are expected to get right up on the saw blades (looks like they are touching you) to clear the dash past it. This contradiction in how things behave caused me to waste so much time which I solved immediately after looking it up.

The levels themselves are nice and sometimes varied (the sniper one wasn't that great of a level, but it was cool that it was different). They are also quite short and sometimes have little shortcuts or hidden collectibles which is cool and good for those who want to master the levels. Bosses are alright too. The game makes it pretty obvious what the boss weakness is so I feel I mostly had no trouble getting through bosses. The final boss was a real pain though, although I did figure it out eventually. I think it is nice the game lets you hotkey the boss abilities you obtain, which was pretty useful for the final boss. The extra items and heal you get after death was also helpful at times and being able to have 9 lives for each level was really helpful for me too.

The story and aesthetics and music were all just ok. I wasn't a fan of the English voices, but I liked the Japanese voices so it was cool that the game let me use JP voices while playing in English (although the English dialogue felt like it was extremely localized compared the Japanese dialogue). The 3d models and environments just felt extremely flat and simplistic. The 2d art in the game is really nice on the other hand though, so I feel like the game would have been better with 2d art only.

Overall, it's not the most amazing game, but I felt it was really similar to how I felt with old Mega Man games. Tough 2d platformer with short levels and a boss at the end. Difficulty was overall good with lots of helpful things like having more lives and the extra helper items after death which were nice for a casual run through the game. The game also seems really open for those who want to master speedrunning it or maxing out combos.
