My first Ys. (How do you even pronounce Ys?) It's been centuries since it's release and its still fun to play and looks good with its olde retro vibes. So what is it? Glad you asked. It's an ARPG. Smash evil squirrels and poisonous plants, level up your character and weapons and jump around like a madman while gaining the trust of an isolated community. Very similar to my life. There's some racism due to protagonist looking different than the locales, however eventually everyone warms to you once they realise your heroic ability to smash innocent squirrels and slaughter their towns surrounding wildlife is second to none. (Very similar to my life). It's no Diablo. You won't find random weapon and item drops. The only drops are life saving heals and status clearing bric-a-brac, gold to buy weapons and armor, and these gems that allow you to level up your weapons power and abilities. The gameplay loop is addictive and has gotten me interested in checking the franchises titles to see the extent of innocent slaughter of cute animals Nihon Falcom can produce in their games.

Even if I say it is one of my least favorite in the series, that doesn't say much when you are still a gold nugget sitting next to slightly bigger gold nuggets. Really love the difficulty spike of this one though
