I only give this a thumbs up because on a deep sale at $4.50 and you have friends to play it with it is worth it. This is a review based on the single player experience, the first game is basic, boring and bland with gameplay shallow as a puddle aside from a couple cool set pieces, but that's about it, and it was clearly a cheap spin off of sniper elite 2 reusing assets, weapons and levels from that game. Zombie Army 2 (or episode 2 here) is the same thing, other than more varied and beautiful environments. Same deal its functionally the same game with some levels from sniper elite 2 not used yet and a couple levels cut from the base game. Zombie Army 3 is also the same thing, but this using the updated sniper elite 3 engine that offers even bigger varied and impressive environments with improved fog, fire effects, lighting etc. Its a shame that level design doesn't change at all, there is nothing new added here other than one new enemy type and a underwhelming hitler boss battle. Its an ok zombie horde shooter, and it functions in single player, but its a older design that was intended for co op back when zombie horde shooters were at their peak. The gameplay boils down to walk down a path shoot, defend a position for a bit and that's about it as you repeat this over and over just in different physical location with zero variation or depth in its gameplay or level design across all three games, But aside from minor improvements from 1 to 3 its basically the same game three times. I was using cheats as i couldn't bear to waste more of my time than i had to to push this mediocre experience. I'd recommend getting Zombie Army 4 complete edition when its on a deep sale, as that game got the AAA development treatment and it is a massive improvement in its controls, gameplay, combat, customization, variety, graphics and level design and its genuinely a fun game in singleplayer

I don't know why I didn't play it for so long but I love these games so much, even just playing solo it's great fun. The atmosphere gets better as you progress and the details fire up my wargaming brain. I'm going to now 3D print endless amounts of dead dudes on sticks for my Konflikt '47 terrain.

Shooting zombies in the head never gets old and the Carpenter-esque soundtrack tickles what's left of my all but dead soul just right. If it's on sale, just pick it up already.
